Our Favorite Business Books.

Below is a curated list of  books we love. They include some great insights that can help supercharge and optimize your relationship between money and your business.  We harken back to a number of these proven strategies when we work with you.

Psychology of Money by Morgan Housel

What It's About: Being a good steward of yours or your businesses capital isn't just about what you know or what's been done, but more about how we behave.  This book dives deep into the psychology behind personal finance, investing and business decisions.

Why We Like It:  Data and spreadsheets can give us insights what to do next but in the real world, that isn't always the case.  Decisions are made based on unique perspectives, experiences and relationships with the outside world in the coffee shop, board room and over dinner.  We love this book for the sole purpose that it helps give perspective on the human condition of doing business and how to make better sense of making good decisions when you lead with your heart, and not your head.

Profit First by Micke Michalowicz

What It's About: Learn how to make your business work for you rather than you working for your business.  Profit First takes a behavioral approach to reframing the profit equation so you can build a cash cow instead of a cash eating monster.

Why We Like It:  Changing perspectives and points of view can transform the way you think about change in your business.  This book reexamines the traditional profit equation (Sales - Expenses = Profit) and proposes a practical, contrarian way of thinking to help build a sustainable, profitable business by flipping the script.  What if you thought about profit differently?  Find out why you should pay yourself first before all else.

Blueprint for an Insanely Successful Business by Keith J. Cunningham

What It's About: What business tools and skills do you need to focus on to make your business insanely successful? This book helps you understand why tracking data and reading the 'Scoreboard' are so important. This book outlines simple, pragmatic tools that work, to get you results that are possible.

Why We Like It:  This book is simple, easy and short but it's ripe with insight on understanding the importance of keeping an eye on the numbers and what means, modes and methods can help you improve your 'Scoreboard' and drive profitability.  For anyone interested in diving into the power that data and reporting can bring immediately to your business, this book is for you.

The Millionaire Next Door by Thomas Stanley and William Danko

What It's About: This book identifies 7 common traits among those that have accumulated wealth in America.  Most of the truly wealthy don't live in the wealthiest zip codes or the priciest penthouses, many more than you think live right next door.

Why We Like It:  The American Dream is something we all want to live out and attain.  More often than not, our relationship with money will dictate how, when and why we become prosperous.  This book provides unique, empirical insights into modern day wealth creation and proves that being fiscally responsible, working hard, being intentional about your taxes, and living below your means outweighs wealth created through inheritance, advanced degrees and intellect.

Checklist Manifesto by Atul Gawande

What It's About: Checklists. A Novel idea that can have a big impact on your business and life.  Real world stories help explain why checklists are so important, what they can help you do, what they won't do, and how they can help you improve efficiency and processes.

Why We Like It:  Avoidable problems and failures of the simplest degree can be curtailed with simple process improvements.  We are more specialized, knowledgable and trained today in every facet of our professional careers than ever before, yet we still make simple mistakes.  A great read for any business owner looking to streamline operations and any individual looking to simplify their life, while making less errors.
